I Recommend Reading CRUSH IT by Gary Vaynerchuk

I just finished reading Gary V’s new book on personal branding called CRUSH IT! Why Now Is The Time To Cash In On Your Passion.

First, it’s a fast read with only 142 pages so you can knock it out in a night or two.

Second, it’s packed with entertaining, helpful and inspiring information on how to build your personal brand using social media and web video tools for little or no cost. Gary is living proof that what he talks about in his book absolutely works. If you aren’t familiar with Gary V then check out his famous video blog at www.winelibrarytv.com.

I don’t drink and I know nothing about wines but I find his vlog (video blog) entertaining and informative. Originally, I thought he was somewhat too loud or opinionated when I saw a clip of him promoting something on someone elses blog but I have changed my mind.

I now find Gary to be refreshing in his directness. He’s funny and energetic. He would say he’s passionate. Either way, he’s worth listening to and following. Get his book, read it and then do what he says. You’ll see results soon enough.

Some of the very best content comes at the end of the book when he gives away several ideas that he has thought of doing but doesn’t have time for. These could be worth millions in the right hands. For example: who would like to be the next Gary V of TEA?

I drink tea and lots of it. Gary thinks the tea market is exploding here in the U.S. making this niche a gold mine for someone with knowledge and passion for tea who can get in front of a camera and produce a show similar to his.

The key take-aways that I got from his book are: Live your passion and where the eyes are, the money will follow. By building your personal brand around your passion, you will get followers who are interested in what you have to say. When you have followers, sponsors will want to pay you for access to those followers… hence, the money will come.

He goes into details on how to use some of the popular social media tools and platforms for building your brand like Twitter, Tumblr, WordPress, YouTube, Viddler, Facebook and others. So the book is worth reading just for these golden gems.
